NuxtLabs, the open-source team behind the Nuxt framework and Nitro runtime, has officially become part of Vercel.

Nuxt and Nitro will become a part of an ecosystem dedicated to open-source development. As the integration unfolds, we might see several new improvements to both technologies, all thanks to Vercel’s support and funding.

According to Sébastien Chopin, CEO of NuxtLabs, his team will continue developing Nuxt and Nitro while at Vercel “with the same focus and care. The projects stay MIT-licensed. The roadmap stays public. The community stays at the center.”

Reportedly, Nuxt and Nitro will remain independent, open-source projects with open governance. Nitro will also continue to serve all frameworks and vendors.

In the same announcement, Vercel informed that Nuxt Studio MDC, Nuxt UI Pro, and NuxtHub Admin will become open-source and free of charge over the coming months
