React Native 1.0 Is on the Horizon

Text in bold red and white says React Native 1.0 is on the horizon on a dark background, with faint outlines of a monitor and rectangular shapes in the background.

After ten years since its initial release, we might finally see React Native 1.0.

Jorge Cohen, an Engineering Manager on Meta’s React Team, announced that they are “Actively working on clearing the path towards it”.

The React Native team has improved its release process with 6 releases pushed in the last year, stabilized and clarified its public APIS, and introduced workflows to catch any breaking changes in an effort to make the upcoming 1.0 release more stable.

While Cohen did not share any specific date on the RN 1.0, he’s hoping to offer more details “soon”.
