The 2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey shows an interesting disconnect between what developers use and what they actually <\/span>want<\/span><\/i> to use.<\/span><\/p>\n

On paper, React and Next.js are still gaining ground. <\/span>React<\/b> use grew from <\/span>39% to 44%<\/b> and <\/span>Next.js<\/b> climbed from <\/span>17% to 20%<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, <\/span>React admiration<\/b> fell from <\/span>62% to 52%<\/b>, and <\/span>desired<\/b> dropped from <\/span>33% to 30%<\/b>. <\/span>Next.js admiration<\/b> also dipped, from <\/span>50% to 45%<\/b>, and <\/span>desired<\/b> use fell from <\/span>18% to 14%<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

More people are using these tools, but fewer seem enthusiastic about them. It looks like developers are sticking with what works, even if it no longer excites them.<\/span><\/p>\n

The survey also highlighted a similar attitude toward AI. While <\/span>84% of developers say they use AI tools<\/b> in some capacity, <\/span>only 29% trust them<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
